1. Hotel Metropol Moscow
The Hotel Metropol in Moscow is a famous and important building. It was built between 1899 and 1907 and many talented artists of that time helped in its decoration, especially the reinforced concrete dome. It holds the distinction of being the first hotel in Moscow to have telephones and hot water available in the rooms.
Interestingly, it is the only hotel that was constructed prior to the 1917 Russian Revolution and still exists today. Shortly after the revolution, it was used as housing for Soviet bureaucrats but returned to its original purpose as a hotel in the 1930s. It is conveniently situated on Theatre Square, close to the renowned Bolshoi Theatre.
